President Lee Jaemyung explained at the 1stanniversary press conference of his inauguration, held on the 8th at the Blue House Guest House, that the reason for nominating Han Seongsook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, as a candidate for Prime Minister was that he chose someone who would actually work rather than someone with political weight.
President Lee said the Cabinet should be able to work as much as possible within the given environment, and that he judged Han to be suitable for that role. He also made a joking remark that Han works very hard and that civil servants find it tough.
The press conference ran for 166 minutes, exceeding the originally scheduled 100 minutes, and President Lee also answered with a smile about the results of the local elections and Samsung Electronics union's demand for a share of wage gains.
