POSCO Holdings to Promote Demonstration of Direct Lithium Extraction Technology in the U.S.

POSCO Holdings DLE to promote its first demonstration in Utah, U.S. Verifying commercialization potential with a demo plant that increases lithium recovery rates

POSCO Holdings will begin demonstrating lithium direct extraction (DLE) technology in Utah, USA. This is the first time a Korean company has tested DLE technology in the United States. On the 10th, POSCO Holdings signed a cooperation agreement with Australian resource development company Anson Resources to build and operate a DLE demo plant in the Green River area of Utah. In this project, POSCO Holdings plans to verify the technology's commercial viability through design, construction, and operation. DLE is a technology that efficiently extracts lithium from lowconcentration lithium brine, and it is regarded as having a higher recovery rate and shorter production period than conventional evaporation methods. POSCO Holdings aims to complete construction and begin operation of the demo plant in 2027, and plans to finish verification using actual brine by 2028 to lay the foundation for commercialization.
