Coupang Play series Right Now, Infidelity Is Not the Problem, and black comedy Check out the hidden story behind the writers’ debut, completed with the behind-the-scenes story of Kim Hye-soo’s casting

As the Coupang Play series ‘Infidelity Is Not the Problem Right Now’ drew a strong response this summer, the debut process of writers Jung Eunkyung and Park Soorin, who wrote the work, was introduced. Based on the featurelength screenplay they first wrote 10 years ago, the two turned a film pitch into an 8episode drama and completed the work. The series is a black comedy in which unexpected incidents keep unfolding one after another, including a neighbor’s affair, a corpse in a demolition district, and a child’s hitandrun coverup. It received praise for bringing out the individuality of the characters, with appearances by Kim Hyesoo, Jo Yeojeong, Kim Jihoon, and Kim Jaecheol. In particular, writer Jung said she had thought of Kim Hyesoo for the lead role of Kyunghee, and that securing her casting in real life gave her a great deal of strength. The two writers explained that they improved the work’s overall quality by reflecting the opinions of the production team and actors in the title, casting, and scene revisions. They also said they focused on maintaining the work’s cheerful tone and sense of pace to the end, and that they wanted to show both the meaning of protecting one’s family and human desire together.
