Cold air affects China, with temperatures in some northern areas dropping by nearly 20°C
Cold air is frequently sweeping across the north. Before the end of September, there may be four cooling events, with temperatures in some areas plunging by more than 15°C. Stay tuned to the latest weather forecasts and take early precautions against rain, temperature drops, and flash floods and geological disasters.
China's meteorological authorities said that cold air will frequently affect northern regions, with four more rounds expected before the end of September. Under the combined effect of the first wave of cold air and overcast, rainy weather, noticeable temperature drops have occurred in Qinghai, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, and other areas, with declines exceeding 15°C at some stations; in Aihui, Heilongjiang, the temperature drop reached 19.4°C.
The Central Meteorological Observatory expects that on the 20th, rainfall and cooling in the north will continue. Temperature drops will be more pronounced in southeastern Inner Mongolia and most of the Northeast, with maximum temperatures in many parts of the Northwest and Northeast falling to around 20°C, and some areas seeing only about 15°C.
Meteorological authorities remind the public that cold air activity will increase in late September, but overall it will still mainly affect the north, while the summer heat in the south will continue. Over the next 10 days, precipitation will be above normal in West China and surrounding areas. Some places should guard against flash floods, geological disasters, and floods in small and mediumsized rivers, and people going out should pay attention to traffic safety.
