A former police officer suspected of covering up the fraud case involving influencer Yang Jeongwon has been arrested. On the 5th, the Seoul Southern District Court issued an arrest warrant for Senior Inspector Song, who is accused of leaking official secrets, after determining in a substantive warrant review that there was a risk of evidence destruction and flight. Song is accused of covering up the case by questioning Yang, who had been booked as a suspect, as a reference witness and then deciding not to send the case to prosecutors on the grounds of no charges when he was working as the team leader of Investigation Division 1 at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul.
