LG Energy Solution settles patent dispute with Sunwoda... signs licensing agreement

LG Energy Solution patent dispute resolved through licensing agreement with Sunwoda Strengthens global battery market response by withdrawing lawsuits in Germany, China, and Korea

LG Energy Solution has settled its ongoing patent dispute with Chinese battery company Sunwoda through a licensing agreement. In a joint press release on the 11th, the two companies said they had agreed to withdraw all legal actions underway in Germany, China, and South Korea. With this agreement, the patent infringement dispute that LG Energy Solution had raised against Sunwoda has effectively come to an end. Previously, a German court had ordered a sales ban, recall, disposal, and damages for some of Sunwoda's battery products. Under this agreement, measures being pursued in South Korea regarding certain vehicles equipped with Sunwoda batteries are also expected to be withdrawn. Industry observers believe LG Energy Solution has gained the upper hand in the patent dispute, and the company continues to push for stronger global battery patent protection and expansion of the licensing market.
