President Lee Jae-myung urges speeding up the integration of the three military academies... On the 5th, President Lee Jaemyung ordered that work to integrate the academies of the Army, Navy, and Air Force be expedited during a work report on foreign affairs, unification, defense, justice, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety held at the Blue House. He noted that the Korea Military Academy had not borne sufficient responsibility in connection with past military coups, and said that a plan to integrate the three service academies should be pushed ahead quickly.
The President also mentioned the issue of referring to North Korea by its official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, as well as restoring the Sept. 19 Military Agreement, and said that in interKorean relations, each expression and measure could lead to political controversy, so caution was needed. He also said that it must be considered that peace measures on the Korean Peninsula could be seen as onesided concessions.
During the work report by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, he instructed that, as the Criminal Procedure Act revision has expanded the police's authority to conclude investigations, supplementary measures are needed to prevent case concealment. He also urged the prosecution to more actively review cases not referred for prosecution and take the lead in protecting victims.
