Academician Chen Liquan says the "Electric China" vision is gradually becoming reality
The "Electric China" vision is accelerating into reality, with transportation electrification, low-carbon energy, and intelligent equipment Lithium batteries, sodium batteries, and solid-state batteries are becoming key, boosting the development of electric vehicles, electric aviation, and energy storage
Chen Liquan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a researcher at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said at the 18th Academicians' Conference of the Chinese Academy of Engineering that the vision of an "Electrified China," characterized by transport electrification, intelligent equipment, and lowcarbon energy, is gradually becoming a reality.
He pointed out that transport electrification includes not only electric vehicles, but also electric trains, electric ships, and electric aircraft; lowcarbon energy covers new energy power generation and largescale energy storage; and intelligent equipment is mainly reflected in scenarios such as smart cities, smart industry, and smart agriculture. Chen Liquan believes that technologies such as lithium batteries and sodium batteries are an important foundation for driving this transformation.
Chen Liquan also mentioned that highperformance batteries are key to achieving this goal. The main challenge facing current lithium batteries is ensuring safety while increasing energy density; solidstate batteries are seen as a direction that balances high energy density and safety, while sodium batteries can serve as an important complement to lithium batteries. The Chinese Academy of Engineering stated that related research centered on the development of electric vehicles, electric aviation, and largescale energy storage has promoted the formation of the strategic vision of "Electrified China."
