National Energy Administration: During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, efforts will be intensified to advance "West Energy for West Use"
The coordinated advancement of west-to-east power transmission and west energy for west use is reshaping the national energy landscape See how clean energy in the west is sent outward while being absorbed locally, unlocking new opportunities for industry
At a news conference on June 26, the National Energy Administration said that during the "15th FiveYear Plan" period it will further advance "Western Energy for Western Use" and coordinate it with "WesttoEast Power Transmission" to optimize the national layout of energy production and consumption.
The National Energy Administration said that China's energy production is mainly concentrated in the west, while consumption is more concentrated in the central and eastern regions. In the future, on the one hand, it will continue to expand the capacity of WesttoEast Power Transmission and advance the construction of projects such as wind power and photovoltaic bases, outbound transmission channels, and WesttoEast Gas Transmission; on the other hand, it will also promote stronger local absorption in western regions, encouraging coordinated planning of clean energy bases with energyintensive industries, advanced manufacturing, computing power, hydrogen energy, and other sectors.
The official also noted that as the relevant plans advance, the forms of crossprovincial and crossregional outward transmission of new energy will become more diversified. In addition to electricity, it may also be exported in the future through hydrogen energy and green fuels.
