Police launched a forced investigation on the 1st in connection with suspicions of procurement corruption involving an official from Gyeryong City Hall in South Chungcheong Province.
The South Chungcheong Provincial Police Agency deployed 18 investigators that day to search and seize two locations, including Gyeryong City Hall. Police are believed to have uncovered signs of money and valuables being exchanged between the public official and a company representative over the procurement.
In this investigation, police are focusing on whether to apply charges of mediation bribery. After analyzing the materials they secured, they plan to question the people involved about how the money and valuables were exchanged and whether they were given in exchange for favors.
