The People Power Party strongly criticized broadcaster Kim Eojun’s remarks regarding the ‘Jang Yoongi case.’ The party pointed out that the remarks were inappropriate expressions that did not take the victim and bereaved family into account.
On the 9th, Kim Eojun claimed on a YouTube broadcast that the case was being overreported and that similar cases happen often. He also mentioned that it was connected to the discussion over the prosecution’s supplementary investigative authority.
In response, People Power Party senior spokesperson Park Seonghoon countered in a commentary on the 11th that this case was an example showing the need for the prosecution’s supplementary investigative authority. He argued that supplementary investigation uncovered parts the police investigation may have missed, and also criticized the Democratic Party’s push for related legislation.
