In the Tongyeong mayoral election in South Gyeongsang Province, the race was decided by a margin of 44 votes, and the National Election Commission has decided to conduct a recount of all ballots. The South Gyeongsang Provincial Election Commission plans to manually review every ballot, unlike the previous method of rechecking only some votes, in connection with an objection to invalidate the election filed by former Tongyeong Mayor Cheon Younggi, who lost in the last local election. The Cheon side reportedly filed a petition along with a request to preserve evidence, arguing that there was an error in the ballot sorting machine's judgment during the vote counting process. The schedule and location for the recount have not yet been decided, and the related costs will be borne by the side that requested it.
