According to a report from China Railway Kunming Group Co., Ltd. on August 4, all longrail welding on the ChongqingKunming HighSpeed Railway has been completed, marking that this line will fully enter the raillaying stage. The ChongqingKunming HighSpeed Railway is an important part of the BeijingKunming corridor in China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" highspeed railway network. The main line is about 700 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, connecting Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan, and ending at Kunming South Railway Station. Along the line, the proportion of bridges and tunnels is high and the terrain is complex, which places very high demands on railwelding precision and stability. Each of the long rails welded this time weighs more than 30 tons and is 500 meters long. During construction, the flatness deviation of the running surface must be controlled within 0.1 to 0.3 millimeters per meter, and the deviation of the guiding surface must be controlled within ±0.2 millimeters, in order to reduce wheelrail wear and improve operational safety. The railway authorities said they have optimized the welding process based on the line's characteristics, and the maximum daily laying capacity for subsequent long rails can reach 12 kilometers.
