Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at the regular press conference on June 26 that China remains committed to the path of peaceful development, and that developing its military strength is aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and is not directed against any country.
Guo Jiakun said that China’s growing military strength represents the growth of forces for peace in the world, helping to safeguard peace and stability in the AsiaPacific region and around the world. The statement was made in response to a journalist’s question.
