Supreme Court justice nominee Kim Sung-soo hints at the possibility of severe disciplinary action over the warrant judge controversy Emphasizing fact-finding and judicial trust, he drew a line against pressure on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

Supreme Court Justice nominee Kim Seongsu stated at the National Assembly confirmation hearing on the 14th that, regarding the controversy over the warrant judge raised in connection with Justice Minister nominee Kim Seungwon, severe disciplinary action would also be possible if the facts are confirmed. When Representative Joo Jinwoo of the People Power Party brought up the past controversy over Chief Judge Jeong Injae's rejection of a warrant and asked what action he would have taken if he were the ethics auditor, Kim first said that the facts would need to be verified, and then replied as above. Chief Judge Jeong became controversial after taking a photo with people linked to allegations of soliciting for a new drug, and then rejecting an arrest warrant for the key figure in that case the following year. It was later also revealed that Judge Jeong's son had worked briefly in Representative Kim Seungwon's office. Nominee Kim said that trust in the courts is important and that judges should be even more careful and mindful. He also stated, regarding the ruling party's pressure on the Chief Justice to resign, that it is not desirable as a member of the judiciary.
