"The 15th FiveYear Plan for the Construction of a Newtype Power System" was released on August 3, proposing that by 2030 a green and lowcarbon electricity supply pattern will basically take shape, providing energy support for economic and social development. The plan shows that during the 15th FiveYear Plan period, China will continue to raise the share of nonfossil fuel power generation, while also leveraging interprovincial power mutual support, virtual power plants, and other mechanisms. At the same time, it will strengthen the backup and security capabilities of traditional power sources such as coalfired power and gasfired power, and advance lowcarbon transformation on the premise of ensuring energy security. In terms of power grid and power source layout, relevant work will coordinate the development of largescale wind and photovoltaic bases, offshore wind power, and other projects, and promote the construction of crossprovincial transmission corridors, regional backbone grids, distribution networks, and microgrids. By 2030, it is expected that more than 15 new UHV direct current transmission corridors will be put into operation, the scale of westtoeast power transmission will exceed 420 million kilowatts, and the share of nonfossil fuel power generation will reach 50%. In addition, China will also speed up the construction of pumpedstorage hydropower, promote the largescale development of newtype energy storage, advance the upgrading and retrofit of a new generation of coalfired power, and guide society to increase the application of green electricity and the level of electrification, promoting the formation of more energysaving and efficient ways of using energy.
