Hainan National Botanical Garden is currently in the process of being established. Reporters recently accompanied experts on onsite visits to the two major park areas in Danzhou and Xinglong, Wanning, to learn about its core resources, including medicinal plants, fruit trees, flowers, and spice beverage crops.
In the main park area in Danzhou, the medicinal plant germplasm resources garden preserves a large number of tropical medicinal plant resources, covering many rare and endangered species. Its total resource volume ranks among the highest in the country, and it is regarded as an important basic research platform for tropical medicinal plants. The park also showcases the four major medicinal plant categories and a variety of Hainan特色 medicinal herbs.
Also in Danzhou, the tropical fruit tree resources garden preserves major fruit tree species such as mango, lychee, and longan, as well as premium and rare fruit tree resources including durian, sugar apple, abiu, and mayong. It provides support for the breeding and promotion of tropical fruit trees. The opentothepublic tropical botanical garden brings together a variety of tropical rare plants from around the world and has strong educational and ornamental value.
The branch park in Xinglong, Wanning, focuses on spice beverage crops and cocoa resources, and has preserved a large amount of germplasm materials from different countries and regions, while also breeding multiple new varieties. The report noted that Hainan National Botanical Garden has been incorporated into the layout of the national botanical garden system, and related establishment work is currently being advanced.
