China-Namibia relations upgraded to an all-weather China-Namibia community with a shared future for the new era

On July 10, the heads of state of China and Namibia held talks in Beijing and jointly announced the upgrading of bilateral relations to a ChinaNamibia community with a shared future for the new era. This upgrading in status is seen as an important step for the two sides to further deepen political mutual trust, economic and trade cooperation, and peopletopeople exchanges. The article points out that China and Namibia have long maintained friendly relations. Namibia established diplomatic relations with China the day after its independence, and in 2018 the two sides upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. After this latest upgrade, the scope of cooperation has further expanded to cover political, economic, security, peopletopeople exchanges, global governance, and other areas. According to the joint statement issued by the two sides, the two countries will also strengthen cooperation in areas such as smart customs, logistics, maritime transport, trade facilitation, upgrading and improving the quality of the mining sector, new energy, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and smart infrastructure.
