Samsung Electronics unveiled three new foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, UK on the 22nd. The products unveiled were the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is characterized by a changed aspect ratio to 4:3, improving video viewing and content usability. When folded, it is similar in size to a passport, and when unfolded, it can be used like a small book. The newly applied display technology also greatly improves crease visibility, and the camera, AI features, and multitasking performance have also been enhanced. The premium model, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, boasts the thinnest thickness among all Fold products to date, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 increases the usability of the external display, making it easy to use major functions even when folded. Samsung plans to begin domestic presales of these products from the 28th and release them sequentially starting August 7. This unveiling comes ahead of Apple's launch of its first foldable smartphone. The market expects competition in foldable smartphones to intensify further. Along with this, Samsung also introduced smart glasses based on Android XR.
