Direction for the Anmyeondo Tourism Development Project to Be Decided Within the Year

The Anmyeondo tourism development project, Chungnam Province will decide its direction this year Check the year-end conclusion amid variables such as review and restructuring, and the outlook for the local economy

The tourism development project for Anmyeondo in South Chungcheong Province, which has been drifting for more than 35 years, is expected to determine its direction within this year. South Chungcheong Governor Park Soohyun said he would make a final decision within the year after comprehensively reviewing whether to proceed with the project and the possibility of restructuring. Since the area was designated as a tourist site in 1991, the project has repeatedly attracted private operators and undergone plan changes, but has fallen through several times. In particular, On the West, which was in charge of Districts 3 and 4, proposed a largescale development plan including a hotel, condominium, and golf course, but construction did not begin due to the slowdown in the construction economy, high interest rates, and a frozen project financing market. South Chungcheong Province had been pursuing financing using a regional revitalization investment fund, but the latest review put it on hold, once again stalling the project. The province says it will make improvements and try again, but if that proves difficult, it will present a new plan by the end of the year.
