Hunan Ecological and Environmental Bulletin: Air and water quality continue to improve, and the results of ecological governance are steadily emerging Check the latest 2025 data to learn about the new changes brought by the battle to defend blue skies, clear water, and clean soil.

The Hunan Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment released the "2025 Hunan Province Ecological and Environmental Status Bulletin" on June 4, showing that the province's overall ecological and environmental conditions remained stable, with continued improvement in air quality and water environment. In 2025, the proportion of days with good or excellent urban ambient air quality in Hunan reached 91.3%, and the concentration of PM2.5 fell by 4.7% year on year; the proportion of surface water sections with good water quality was 97.9%, and the compliance rate of water quality at centralized drinking water sources remained 100%. The bulletin shows that in recent years, Hunan has continued to advance the battle to defend blue skies, clear waters, and clean soil, and has improved governance effectiveness by refining local legislation, revising relevant regulations, and introducing ecological and environmental standards. In terms of air pollution control, the province has promoted治理 of diesel trucks, construction machinery, and key industrial enterprises, and a number of ultralow emission retrofits and standardupgrading projects have been steadily implemented. In terms of the water environment, Hunan has many rivers, and the main streams of the "One River and Four Waters" have maintained water quality of Class II or above for six consecutive years. The total phosphorus concentration in Dongting Lake fell by 7.0% compared with the previous year. Ecological restoration has also made progress, and related monitoring shows that the populations of fish, migratory birds, Yangtze finless porpoises, and milu deer have continued to grow or remain stable. Risk control of soil pollution and rural environmental governance have been advanced in parallel, and the safe use of farmland and management of key construction land have continued to be strengthened.
