President Lee Jaemyung said he is reviewing a plan to establish a separate dedicated organization to oversee youth policy.
At the 2026 Youth Day ceremony held on the 19th at the Blue House guesthouse, President Lee said that the current policy decisionmaking system alone makes it difficult to sufficiently address the hardships young people face. Referring to young people's asset building, marriage, and housing issues, he explained that the government is preparing related measures.
He also said that the personnel and capabilities to actually carry out the policies are important, and that he is considering ways to give the younger generation more opportunities. President Lee assessed that Korean young people are the generation that studies the longest and competes the fiercest, but ultimately faces the most uncertain future.
