The Ministry of Public Security has announced 4 typical cases of illegal occupation of agricultural land

The Ministry of Public Security reported on June 25 four typical cases of illegally occupying agricultural land. The cases involved Liaoning, Jiangxi, Hubei, and Hunan, among other places, and the relevant individuals were dealt with according to law for acts such as changing land use without authorization, damaging cultivated land, or dumping construction waste. The report showed that from January to May this year, public security organs nationwide had filed and investigated nearly 2,000 criminal cases involving illegal occupation of agricultural land. The public security authorities said they would continue to strengthen cooperation with departments such as natural resources, focusing on cracking down on activities such as illegally occupying cultivated land to build houses, sand excavation and mining, stockpiling waste, and damaging cultivated land under the guise of agricultural projects, in order to safeguard food security and ecological security. Among the published cases, a suspect in Tieling, Liaoning, was transferred for prosecution for stealing black soil and peat from permanent basic farmland; in a case in Ji'an, Jiangxi, the suspect occupied cultivated land without approval to build breeding facilities and caused damage to the cultivated land, and has been sentenced and fined; two other cases in Hong'an, Hubei, and Xinning, Hunan, were also transferred for review and prosecution for occupying cultivated land to dispose of spoil and dump engineering waste. The police also reminded the public that any leads on related illegal or criminal activities can be reported promptly.
