Laoshanjie in the Textbook: Retracing the Long March and Looking Back at the Red Army’s Mountain-Crossing Story
Revisiting the Red Army’s Long March story at Laoshanjie and reliving the challenging years of crossing treacherous mountain ridges Enter Xing'an, Guangxi, to explore the Long March route in the textbook and the new changes in the countryside
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March, and many Long March stories have been written into primary and secondary school textbooks, becoming an important window for people to look back on that period of history.
A Xinhua News Agency reporter recently went to Jieshou Town, Xing'an County, Guangxi, and followed the mountain road over Laoshanzhen that the Red Army took back then for an onsite visit. The article "Laoshanzhen" in the junior high school Chinese textbook tells exactly this story, recording the first perilous mountain range crossed by the Red Army during the Long March.
Today, the torchlit night route of those years is now linked with rural development, and the route along the way also bears witness to new changes brought by local rural revitalization.
