Phase II Civil Engineering Works of the China Spallation Neutron Source Completed
The Phase II construction and installation works of the China Spallation Neutron Source have been completed, and the civil engineering has been fully finished. Five buildings were completed on schedule, supporting the subsequent equipment installation and overall construction.
According to the Dongguan Research Division of the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the construction and installation works for Phase II of the China Spallation Neutron Source were completed on September 28, with all construction tasks finished and the project officially handed over, marking the completion of all civil engineering work for the facility.
This Phase II project is located in Dongguan, Guangdong, and is a key provincial and municipal project comprising five individual buildings. Construction began on September 22, 2024, and was completed on schedule after two years.
The report said that Phase II construction was carried out in an area where the Phase I facility is already operating normally, with dense pipelines on site and complex underground structures, making construction highly difficult. The project team said that through innovations in technology and construction methods, they solved a number of construction challenges and also laid the foundation for subsequent equipment installation and overall project development.
