On July 15, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited and carried out research in the Citizens' New Village residential community on Ban Songyuan Road Subdistrict, Huangpu District, Shanghai, to learn about the changes in living conditions after the renovation of old residential areas.
Citizens' New Village used to be a typical old residential community. After the renovation, independent kitchens and bathrooms were added, elevators were installed, and the residents' living conditions were significantly improved.
The article points out that advancing highquality urban renewal is an important lever for building a modern people's city. During the 14th FiveYear Plan period, localities across the country have renovated more than 240,000 old urban residential communities, benefiting about 110 million residents, reflecting that urban construction is placing greater emphasis on improving people's livelihoods and enhancing living quality.
