The government said that two days after Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company resumed the 20th discharge of treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, an equipment alarm occurred and it was automatically halted again.
Kim Youngsoo, First Vice Minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, said at a briefing on the 13th that he had been informed by Tokyo Electric Power Company that the discharge had stopped due to an alarm in the transfer process and that the cause was being identified.
Tokyo Electric Power Company also stopped the discharge on the 10th due to the same alarm, but resumed it on the 11th after replacing a valve. The government said it will continue to monitor the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant and provide an explanation as soon as additional information is confirmed.
