The People Power Party held the 'People's Action Rally for Judgment of the Lee Jaemyung Administration, Recovery of Livelihoods, and Protection of National Security' in front of Sungnyemun in Seoul on the 3rd and took to the streets in protest. At this rally, held ahead of next week's 국정감사, Party leader Jang Donghyuk criticized the government and the president while mentioning a drop in approval ratings.
In his speech, Leader Jang claimed that the president's approval rating could fall below the 30% range and called for a shift in real estate policy, an end to the nationwide inspection of farmland, acceptance of a special counsel investigation, and the resumption of President Lee Jaemyung's trial. Floor leader Song Eonseok and lawmaker Im Jongdeuk also criticized the government over its response to North Korean provocations and security issues.
The People Power Party said this rally would serve as an opportunity to highlight livelihood and security issues, but the Democratic Party of Korea pushed back, saying it was inappropriate to hold an outdoor rally at a time when preparing for the 국감 should be the priority. The Democratic Party criticized the rally as essentially an event to prop up Party leader Jang Donghyuk.
