The Ministry of Natural Resources has activated a Level IV response for geological disaster prevention in Chongqing and Guizhou

The geological disaster warning has been upgraded in Chongqing and Guizhou, with higher risks in the north and east. Pay attention to the impact of future heavy rainfall, carry out timely preventive inspections, and hold the bottom line of safety.

According to a message from the Ministry of Natural Resources' WeChat public account, due to heavy rainfall in Chongqing, Guizhou, and other areas over the next three days, the risk of geological disasters is relatively high in northern Chongqing and eastern Guizhou. The Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster prevention response for Chongqing and Guizhou at 18:00 on September 30. The notice requires the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources and the Guizhou Provincial Department of Natural Resources to raise risk awareness, strengthen bottomline thinking, promptly carry out inspections and investigations, and do a good job in monitoring and early warning, consultation and assessment, disaster and emergency response, as well as onduty staffing and information reporting. The Ministry of Natural Resources also requires the China Geological Survey and the Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources to strengthen consultation and assessment and expert coordination, and assist local authorities in carrying out geological disaster prevention work.
