Gonghe, Qinghai Promotes Integrated Development of Desertification Control and the Photovoltaic Industry

Gonghe County in Hainan Prefecture, Qinghai, is located around the Longyangxia Reservoir area in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and was long affected by shifting sand dunes and sediment flowing into the reservoir. In recent years, the local area has gradually eased the expansion of desertification through forest and grass restoration, straw checkerboard sand barriers, and largescale ecological治理, improving vegetation coverage on the north bank of the reservoir. At the same time, the Talatan photovoltaic industrial park has adopted the model of "power generation above the panels, restoration below the panels," improving surface windblown sand and moisture conditions while generating electricity, and helping grassland vegetation recover. Relevant departments introduced that wind speed and evaporation within the park have decreased significantly, and vegetation coverage has continued to rise. On the basis of ecological improvement, the local area has also developed the ecological livestock industry of "mutual promotion between livestock and photovoltaics," with herders increasing their income by grazing in the photovoltaic park. Reports show that the scale of clean energy generation and green electricity trading in Qinghai Prefecture has continued to expand, and photovoltaics and ecological restoration are becoming important support for local rural revitalization.
