Shanghai Holds Symposium Marking the 40th Anniversary of Juvenile Procuratorial Work

On June 17, Shanghai held a symposium on the procuratorial organs’ prevention and governance of juvenile delinquency and the 40th anniversary of juvenile procuratorial work. Chen Wenqing, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Chen Wenqing said that it is necessary to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and the important directives on the prevention and control of juvenile delinquency, further strengthen juvenile procuratorial work, better advance the prevention and control of delinquency and the protection of rights and interests, and provide legal safeguards for the healthy growth of minors. He stressed the need to uphold a combination of punishment and prevention, leniency and severity, and addressing both symptoms and root causes, continuously做好 the prevention and governance of juvenile delinquency, and carry out corrective education, specialized education, and specialized corrective education in accordance with the law; at the same time, punish juvenile crimes in accordance with the law, crack down severely on crimes infringing upon minors, and handle all kinds of cases involving minors with high quality and efficiency.
