Apple unveils Siri AI based on Gemini... market reaction is cold

Apple unveiled its new voice assistant feature, Siri AI, at WWDC held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, USA. This overhaul comes after about two years and is notable for jointly developing the Apple Foundation Models using Google’s Gemini model. Siri AI provides personalized responses based on information on the device such as text messages, photos, contacts, and schedules, and can also provide nutritional information for food viewed through the camera. Apple explained that these features operate based on ondevice AI and a private cloud, focusing on protecting user data. However, the market has noted that while Apple has taken a practical approach, it lacks the new innovation that had been anticipated. Siri AI will be supported first only on iPhones from the 2023 models onward, and general availability is expected to begin this fall. In the EU and China, the launch may be delayed further due to regulatory issues.
