CCTV.com, in the “Great Journey” series, reviewed the history of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, focusing on the organizational mobilization and strategic role of the Communist Party of China in the war.
The article noted that, from the Mukden Incident, the Wayaobu Conference, and the peaceful resolution of the Xi’an Incident, to the fullscale nationwide war of resistance that broke out after the Lugou Bridge Incident, the Communist Party of China continuously promoted the formation of the antiJapanese national united front and proposed the ideas of protracted war and people’s war, leading the antiJapanese military and civilians to carry out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines.
The report also cited battles such as the Victory at Pingxing Pass and the Hundred Regiments Offensive, as well as the longterm struggles of the Eighth Route Army, the New Fourth Army, the South China AntiJapanese Guerrilla Force, and the Northeast AntiJapanese United Army, emphasizing that the victory in the War of Resistance was the first complete victory of the Chinese people in modern times against foreign aggression, and that the great antiwar spirit is also regarded as an important spiritual asset.
