President Lee elevates Korea-Italy relations to a special strategic partnership

President Lee Jaemyung and Italian President Sergio Mattarella held a summit meeting at the Quirinale Palace in Rome on the 11th and agreed to upgrade bilateral relations to a "special strategic partnership." The two leaders agreed to further expand trade and investment, advanced industries and science and technology, and cultural and peopletopeople exchanges. They also agreed to communicate closely for peace and stability in the region, including the Korean Peninsula. In a joint press statement, President Lee said he would further develop cooperation based on the values shared by Korea and Italy. He also explained that companies from both countries would seek opportunities for cooperation in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, defense industry, aerospace, energy, and bio. On the 12th, several memorandums of understanding and agreements are scheduled to be signed on the occasion of his meeting with Prime Minister Meloni.
