On July 23, the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China Daily, China Environment News, and the Department of Ecology and Environment of Fujian Province held a symposium in Nanping, Fujian, to discuss how Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization guides the development of beautiful villages. Participants, drawing on China’s practice in rural ecological governance and rural revitalization, explored the achievements, pathways, and next key priorities of building beautiful villages. A think tank report released at the meeting showed that in recent years China has made progress in areas such as rural domestic sewage treatment, blackodorous water body remediation, and the popularization of sanitary toilets, with continuous improvements in the rural ecological environment and living conditions. Experts at the meeting said that the development of beautiful villages is upgrading from “clean and tidy” to being “suitable for living, suitable for working, and harmonious and beautiful,” and is integrating ecological protection, industrial development, and rural governance. The article also mentioned that places such as Nanping, Fujian have transformed ecological advantages into economic advantages by developing allforone tourism, the tea industry, and the bamboo industry. Foreign guests and experts at the meeting said that China’s experience in green rural development offers a reference for global ecological protection and rural prosperity.
