The results of our country’s marine ecological protection and restoration are becoming evident

According to CCTV News, in recent years, China has strengthened pollution discharge control, promoted industrial upgrading, and implemented marine ecological restoration. As a result, the ecological environment in many coastal areas has continued to improve, and more scenes of clear water, clean beaches, and flocks of fish and seagulls can be seen along the coastline. In Haikou Bay, Hainan, local authorities have continued to carry out comprehensive inspections, combining manual patrols and drone aerial surveys to check for beach litter, sewage outlets discharging into the sea, and other issues, in order to keep the marine ecological environment stable and improving. Xiamen, Fujian, has accelerated the green transformation of its ports, promoted the replacement of traditional fuelpowered ships with electric vessels, and improved the bay environment by clearing out noncompliant aquaculture and renovating beaches and shorelines. The report also noted that Shenzhen and Hong Kong have strengthened coordinated governance around Dapeng Bay, jointly protecting the coastal ecosystem through mechanisms such as planning, monitoring, management, and results sharing, while regularly carrying out coral conservation and beachcleaning actions. Monitoring data show that among the country's 283 bays, 168 have a proportion of area with excellent or good water quality exceeding 85%, 117 bays have achieved excellent or good water quality across the entire area, and the habitats of rare species such as the Chinese white dolphin, spotted seal, and spoonbilled sandpiper are also being better protected.
