Relief for the computer system failure during college rolling admissions application submission, up to 1,200 applicants eligible Applications possible from the 14th to the 16th… Checking each university’s application procedures and concerns over fairness

The Ministry of Education has decided to provide relief for testtakers who were unable to submit applications due to a computer system failure during the early admissions application period for the 2027 college entrance process. According to the Korean Council for University Education, the Uwayapply server experienced an outage on the 11th due to a surge in users just before the deadline, and the system was restored about 30 minutes later. The eligible recipients are testtakers whose records of accessing the site, logging in, and writing and saving their applications can be confirmed at the time of the outage, and the Ministry of Education estimated there are up to about 1,200 of them. These testtakers may submit applications only to the university or department they were working on at the time, and changing the destination of their application will not be allowed. Applications for relief will be accepted on the Uwayapply website from 9:00 a.m. on the 14th to 6:00 p.m. on the 16th. After confirming applicants' computer records, Uwayapply and the universities are expected to individually guide eligible applicants through the submission process. Meanwhile, with the extension of the application deadline, some testtakers are also raising concerns about fairness.
