Hengqin Introduces New Policies to Support the Development of the Micro-Short Drama Industry

On June 10, the Hengqin GuangdongMacao InDepth Cooperation Zone released the "Support Measures for the Development of the MicroShort Drama Industry," which will take effect on June 21 and remain valid until December 31, 2027. Centering on areas such as enterprise cultivation, script creation, location filming, technological innovation, park construction, talent development and recruitment, and international communication, the new policy proposes 12 support measures to promote coordinated development across all segments of the industrial chain. According to the policy, enterprises that reach a certain number of filming projects and online releases for the first time may receive a onetime award of up to 200,000 yuan; in terms of script creation and incubation, a single work may receive a subsidy of up to 10,000 yuan, with an annual budget of 10 million yuan. The measures also provide rewards for works filmed at landmarks in Hengqin and Macao, and support the research, development, and application of AI tools to improve production efficiency and reduce costs. Local authorities said this policy aims to leverage the resource advantages of Hengqin and Macao to promote the integration of tourism, culture, and industry between the two places, as well as innovation in the cultural industry, attract microshort drama enterprises, creative teams, and professional talent, and drive the related industries toward greater scale, higher quality, and internationalization.
