The Seoul National University Presidential Recommendation Committee selected Professors Kang Junho of the Department of Physical Education, Kim Hyuncheol of the Graduate School of International Studies, Lee Jaeyoung of the Department of English Language and Literature, and Choi Haecheon of the Department of Mechanical Engineering as preliminary candidates ahead of the election for the 29th president of Seoul National University.
Incumbent President Yoo Hongrim, who sought a second term, was not included on the list of preliminary candidates because he did not pass the first evaluation. A total of 12 people ran in this election, and the committee heard each candidate's statement of views at its fourth meeting on the 9th and narrowed the field to four.
The four preliminary candidates will be evaluated by a policy review panel composed of faculty members, staff, and students on October 7. After that, three final candidates will be selected, and the final one will be elected through a board of trustees vote.
The selected candidates are scheduled to hold public presentation sessions on the 17th at Yeongeon Campus and on the 22nd at Gwanak Campus.
