President Lee asks the ruling party's parliamentary leadership to swiftly process legislation for state tasks

President Lee Jaemyung held a dinner with the Democratic Party of Korea's floor leadership and asked them to speed up the passage of bills related to the administration's policy agenda. On the 1st, the president met privately at the Blue House with the floor leadership, including Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader Han Byungdo, to discuss the direction of state affairs in the second half of the year and key legislative tasks. The dinner was an invitationonly gathering with the ruling party's floor leadership, held for the first time in about five months since last January. Participants reportedly agreed that, even amid the overheated race for party leadership, the government and the ruling party must unite more closely to support the livelihoods and economy of the public. Also mentioned were legislative tasks for the government's recently announced three megaprojects and the southwestern semiconductor cluster development project, as well as discussions on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act.
