The Ministry of Education has provisionally counted 388 examinees as eligible for relief in connection with the system outage affecting the 2027 college admissions regular application process. It also plans to launch a special investigation to examine the cause of the outage, the response process, and the system operation and management framework.
This outage occurred on the 11th in the UwayApply system operated by the application service provider, and it was confirmed that some universities first disclosed their competition rates while extending the application deadline. The Ministry of Education said that, in the case of 17 universities including Sungkyunkwan University, Sejong University, and Hanyang University ERICA, it will consider even canceling applications if fairness issues are found.
Among the 1,588 relief applications, the Ministry of Education checked computerized records and application histories to remove duplicate applications, and is determining eligibility for relief mainly for cases in which attempts to write, save, submit, or pay for the application were confirmed. However, it also stated that relief would be difficult in cases where no computerized trace at all remains.
