Homeplus, which is undergoing rehabilitation proceedings, has decided to close 37 stores whose operations had been temporarily suspended. It also plans to carry out a voluntary retirement process for the approximately 3,000 employees working at those stores.
In an official notice sent to the labor union on the 4th, Homeplus said it had decided to close the stores that were under suspension. These stores had stopped operating on the 10th after a closure notice was issued on the 8th of last month.
The company explained that it would apply a restructuring support program to employees at the closing stores, and would accept voluntary retirement from employees at the managerial level of 'responsibility' and above. However, it said the program could only be implemented if conditions related to operating funds and the rehabilitation proceedings are met, leaving it uncertain whether the support will actually be provided.
