The area around Gwangju Military Airport designated as a land transaction permit zone for 2 years as a planned site for a semiconductor cluster

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has designated the planned site for the Honam region semiconductor advanced national industrial complex, including the Gwangju military airport site and surrounding areas, as a land transaction permit zone. The designation period is two years, from the 14th of this month until July 13, 2028. This measure includes Gwangsangu, Donggu, Seogu, Namgu, and Bukgu, as well as areas in Naju, Jangseong County, and Hwasun County. The ministry decided to designate the area as a permit zone, taking into account the possibility that speculative demand could pour in during the process of promoting a major state project and cause land prices to rise excessively. In a land transaction permit zone, when trading land exceeding a certain area, permission from the head of the local government is required. Even if permission is granted, there must be a real intended use, and the land must be used for the designated purpose within five years, which restricts speculative transactions.
