Use of ChatGPT Enterprise by Korean Companies Surges 28-Fold in One Year
OpenAI's infrastructure buildout in Korea enables AI inference to be processed domestically See the spread of enterprise adoption and even the potential for data centers
OpenAI is promoting the establishment of domestic infrastructure in Korea that can handle even AI inference. Beyond data storage, the plan is to process the computational steps by which AI generates responses within the country.
On the 9th, OpenAI held a press briefing to mark the first anniversary of the launch of its Korea office at the Josun Palace in Gangnamgu, Seoul, and announced that the number of users of ChatGPT Enterprise, its business service, had increased by about 28 times as of the end of last month compared with the same period last year. Users of ChatGPT Work and Codex, its workfocused features, increased 14fold over the past six months, and weekly active users in Korea also rose 35% from a year ago.
OpenAI also mentioned the possibility of building a domestic data center. Kim Kyunghoon, General Manager of OpenAI Korea, explained that processing inference in Korea would require better GPUs and cloud systems, and said the company is in discussions with domestic infrastructure partners. OpenAI said that AI use in Korea is expanding into legal affairs, finance, human resources, marketing, sales, and other areas.
