Li Qiang chairs a symposium of experts and entrepreneurs on the economic situation

On the afternoon of July 13, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council chaired a symposium in Beijing with experts and entrepreneurs on the economic situation, to hear views and suggestions from experts, scholars, and business representatives on the current economic situation and the next steps for economic work. Participants at the meeting said that China's economy overall remained stable in the first half of the year, with new growth drivers accelerating, and showed a certain degree of resilience amid rising uncertainty in the external environment. They also pointed out that the current economic operation still faces some risks and challenges. Li Qiang said at the meeting that the current economic situation should be viewed comprehensively and objectively, recognizing both achievements and problems. Economic work in the second half of the year will affect the achievement of the fullyear development goals and the start of the 15th FiveYear Plan, so efforts should be stepped up to strengthen countercyclical adjustment, make good use of existing policies, proactively develop incremental policies, focus on expanding domestic demand, promote quality upgrading and expansion of the service sector, advance the digital and intelligent transformation of the manufacturing sector, and continuously optimize the business environment, stabilize employment, and anchor enterprise expectations.
