President Lee Jae-myung emphasizes his determination to make the Honam semiconductor investment a success

President Lee Jaemyung said on the 30th at the National Report Meeting on the Vision for Developing Advanced Industries in the Southwest Region, held at the Kim Daejung Convention Center in Gwangju, that Samsung Electronics and SK hynix's semiconductor investment in the Honam region was a historic reward and that he would push it forward without a hitch.
At the event, Samsung and SK unveiled a plan to invest a total of 896 trillion won in the southwest region, including semiconductor fabs and AI data centers. The government and the companies also signed a related memorandum of understanding (MOU).
President Lee explained that the investment decision was based on the companies' economic judgment, not government pressure. He also said the state would take on key tasks such as securing water, power, and land, improving regulations, and providing financial and tax support.
