On August 2, the 2026 New Era Ecological Agriculture Strategy Seminar was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Chinese and foreign experts from the fields of agriculture, ecology, and resources and the environment discussed topics such as the strategic direction of ecological agriculture, ecological security, technological innovation, and industrial implementation. Yu Guirui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that future agriculture needs to take into account food, resource, ecological, and environmental security at the same time. In light of China's efforts to advance ecological civilization and green transformation, he believes that developing ecological agriculture in Xinjiang has important strategic significance. Foreign experts at the conference pointed out that Xinjiang's exploration of efficient watersaving agriculture under conditions of limited water and land resources provides a reference for agricultural transformation in arid and semiarid regions. The experts also noted that improving intelligent management of farmland and promoting the resource utilization of agricultural waste will help Xinjiang agriculture continue to develop in a green and sustainable direction.
