Han Dong-hoon to Hold a Meeting on Supplementary Investigative Authority with the Victim of the Busan Roundhouse Kick Attack

The office of independent lawmaker Han Donghoon will hold a meeting at the National Assembly on the 4th regarding the supplemental investigation authority. At the event, Kim Jinju, the victim of the ‘Busan roundhouse kick incident,’ is expected to attend and have a discussion with the lawmaker. Kim recently showed strong opposition by leaving a critical comment on the social media account of Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yongmin, who introduced a bill to abolish the prosecution’s direct investigative authority. She has argued that the supplemental investigation authority played an important role in revealing the truth in the case she experienced. This meeting is also expected to cover how the attempted sexual crime was uncovered through the police investigation at the time and the prosecution’s supplemental investigation. Han’s office said it would also leave open the opportunity for lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties to attend and speak, but there was no participation from Democratic Party lawmakers who had previously supported abolishing the supplemental investigation authority.
