The 32nd APEC Ministerial Meeting on Small and Mediumsized Enterprises will be held in Guangzhou on September 4. As supporting events, five thematic forums will be held from August 31 to September 1, focusing on topics such as digital and intelligent empowerment, financial support, resilient development, crossborder investment, and innovation empowerment, providing a platform for policy dialogue and cooperation among economies in the AsiaPacific.
The article notes that small, micro, and mediumsized enterprises are an important part of the AsiaPacific economy, accounting for more than 97% of all enterprises in the region. Faced with technological change, supply chain adjustments, and market competition, SMEs are not only under pressure to transform but also face new opportunities for digitalization and innovationdriven development. The vast number of market entities in Guangdong and Guangzhou also provides a Chinese practical example for the related discussions.
Among the five forums, Chinese experience is mainly reflected in areas such as support for digital transformation, the building of crossborder investment and financing mechanisms, the integration of industry and finance, capacity building, and supply chain coordination. Participants also shared practices from Singapore, the United States, and South Korea, emphasizing that policy mutual learning, technological cooperation, and the building of an innovation ecosystem can enhance the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of SMEs in the AsiaPacific.
