The Blue House strongly protested after the Ukrainian government denied the existence of a secret agreement regarding the public disclosure of the transfer to South Korea of two North Korean prisoners of war. The Blue House considered Ukraine's manner of disclosure to be a violation of the agreement and demanded an official explanation and an apology.
In a statement released late on the 27th, Seong Gihong, Senior Secretary for Public Relations and Communications at the Blue House, said that the press office of the Ukrainian presidential office damaged trust between the two countries by announcing information that was not true. He also pointed out that it was a problem to disclose the matter unilaterally without prior consultation or notice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also summoned Andrii Beskhkin, the acting Ukrainian ambassador to South Korea, to lodge a protest. First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoonjoo demanded that Ukraine prevent a recurrence, along with an official explanation and apology from the Ukrainian government. The Ukrainian side said it would accurately report the relevant details to its home government.
